The Sadhvis

This painting depicts two Sadhavis lost in their praise to the Lord. Sadhvi is a Sanskrit term meaning a virtuous and pious woman. Most Sadhavis choose to focus on a spiritual life. In villages of Bengal, many Sadhavis or female “Bauls”, as they are called, roam around in the villages where they spend most of their lives worshipping God, and reciting and singing hymns in His praise.
